Grip Royal is back at it w/ some fresh new Steering Wheel designs for Fall 2016. As always these steering wheels are limited edition w/ low run production numbers so don’t expect these to be around for long. Wood Etched : “Carp” Design Steering Wheel (This wheel is part of the all-new wood etched series. It features Carp fish, known as Koi in Japan. These fish are a big part of Japanese culture and symbolize courage & overcoming adversity. Stories are told of how Koi climb waterfalls that have strong currents)

Cosmic Galaxy Steering Wheel (The purple “Galaxy” design steering wheel was a very popular design earlier this year, and this feels a lot like Galaxy 2.0 … “Cosmic” series is a nice follow up w/ a different play on colors)

This is a guide to help you read the basic measurements of a wheel. Wheel measurements are generally broken up into three numbers (Wheel Diameter, Wheel Width, & Wheel Offset.) Below we explain how to read and understand each measurement.

Wheel Diameter – When looking at wheel sizes this is usually the first number you will see and represents the overall diameter of the wheel. This is measured in inches. (i.e. 16″, 17″, 18″, etc)

Wheel Width – The second number you see represents the width of the wheel. Similar to the diameter this is also measured in inches. (i.e. 8″, 8.5′, 9″ etc)

Wheel Offset – The third number you see represents the offset of the wheel. The offset is the measurement of how far the hub is mounted out from the wheels center point. This is generally measured in mm and is displayed as a positive or a negative number. A positive number offset means the hub is mounted closer to the outside than the center point. A negative number offset means the hub is mounted closer to the inside than the center point. (i.e. +35mm means that the hub is mounted 35mm closer to the outside than center) The center point of a wheel would be displayed as 0.

Earlier this year, Tein released their new replacement for the Super Street Dampers – the Street Advance series. These new dampers are the latest in Tein technology, and incorporate many of the new components the Street Basis series has, but with the addition of the Advance Needle. This new needle causes a large increase in damping force change (over 200%) compared to that of an equivalent Super Street damper, all within the same 16-click usable damping force settings. That translates to a much more noticeable change in ride and handling feel, and better optimization of damping for various road conditions.

Tein’s Street Advance Dampers also include the same high durability components and coatings that the Street Basis dampers utilize, such as a non-welded shell case structure design (making for a cleaner anti-rust treatment on the bottom of the shell case), improved damper finishing (shot blast + 2 stage powdercoating) and ZT coating on threaded portions for a smooth adjustment of ride height and the highest level of protection from the elements. These kits are designed to give you a long service life. And of course, like all Tein dampers, they can be rebuilt and even customized to your needs.

Earlier this year Tein announced their long popular “Basic” series coilovers were being replaced by a new and improved version introduced as the “Street Basis” series. We posted a blog entry back in June that took a look into what these new coilovers were all about.

Tein originally introduced only 5 part numbers earlier this year and within the past few months released many more to the line up. Below is the list of all currently available applications we carry. Tein’s brand new line of coilovers just landed in the United States earlier this month. The “Street Basis” is being introduced as the new entry level coilover to Tein’s adjustable suspension line up. This spot is currently held by the long time popular “Tein BASIC” coilovers. All new entry level coilover applications will be developed as the Street Basis but some of the Basic series kits will still remain in production. The most popular applications from the Basic series are being re-developed and released as the Street Basis but the slower selling less popular applications will remain in production as the Basic series, at least for now. As Tein re-develops the popular applications they’ll discontinue the corresponding application within the Basic series.

Street Basis holds many of the same features as the Basic line with a handful of slight improvements. New non-welded shell case structure design (making for a cleaner anti-rust treatment on the bottom of the shell case), new black “ZT” fluorine resin coating on the adjustment threads as opposed to older chrome plating found on the basic series (making for smother height adjustment), and some component material changes that actually ends up bringing the overall cost lower then the Basic Coilover pricing.

For the introduction of the Street Basis Damper Kits; Tein has released only 5 part numbers. We have all of these available to ship as early as today. Here are the current part numbers and applications.
